Students are expected to come to PE dressed appropriately and ready to participate. Appropriate behavior is a vital aspect of learning. In the deficiency of a disciplined environment, the teacher cannot teach effectively and the learner cannot learn. Every behavior act has a consequence. The Schuster Patriot Physical Education Department Discipline Plan is intended to provide a safe environment in which students can learn, feel valued, and develop responsibility for their own behaviors academic progress. This discipline plan outlines specific, reasonable rules of expected conduct along with logical and realistic consequences.

Statement of Unacceptable Behavior:
Not following directions of staff (teachers, paraprofessionals, librarians, school volunteers, and other employees) is unacceptable.
The Following Will Be Considered Severe:
*Repetitive misbehavior in any of these areas will be referred to the parents. A student exhibiting any form of severe behavior that endangers any student, violates the law or seriously prevents the teacher from teaching or other students from learning will be referred directly to the campus administration.*

- Private conference with student
- Several opportunities to redirect the student/behavior
- Several opportunities for a cool off period for the student
- Contact parents via telephone/written note home/documentation
- Request for conference with parent and PE Dept.
- Referral to Assistant Principal/Principal
Statement of Unacceptable Behavior:
Not following directions of staff (teachers, paraprofessionals, librarians, school volunteers, and other employees) is unacceptable.
- Kicking, fighting shoving, tripping, and or play fighting will not be tolerated.
- Teasing, swearing, spitting, and or name calling is prohibited.
- Throwing of any dangerous object to include rocks, sand, pebbles, sticks, stones, and snowballs are forbidden.
- Not using the playground/PE equipment and structures safely and playing in unacceptable areas is not allowed.
- If an act or behavior results in the damage to any school property the student/parent will be required to replace or repair the property.
The Following Will Be Considered Severe:
- DANGEROUS: Any behavior that is intended to cause physical injury to a student and or staff member.
- DISRESPECTFUL/ABUSIVE: Behavior in which students refuse to obey reasonable directives from any staff member and or use profane or disrespectful language to any staff member.
- ILLEGAL: Any behavior involving theft, vandalism, possession of dangerous objects, smoking, drugs, alcohol, and truancy/tardiness.
- HARASSMENT/BULLYING: Student who repeatedly engage in behaviors such as using threats, put-downs, teasing, obscenities, gestures, and or physical contact such as kicking, tripping, punching, pinching, hitting, chasing, or play fighting/horse playing.
